You are running a small business and need a website up as quick as possible and for as low as possible? Well, I guess Wix and Squarespace are your options then.
Some of you would ask, “Anar why would you share this? Wouldn’t it hurt your business?” The truth is, not it wouldn’t. I know that the moment you would get more serious about getting clients online you would come to me. As for now, you are probably looking for a quick website so that people can check you out and establish trust in your brand. So let’s get started!
1. Wix has a FREE plan, Squarespace doesn’t
The truth is if you are just starting out you are probably tight on budget. Thus a FREE website is probably something you are interested in. Wix has a free plan and you may as well go with it. That being said, Squarespace offers a 14-day free trial and after that, it will cost you $12/month.
2. Squarespace is easier to customize
Now, this is my subjective opinion, however, I found it way easier to modify layout, fonts and images in Squarespace. For some reason, their user interface just felt friendlier. The image below is a sample website I made with Squarespace. That being said, they are both are pretty easy to use. For instance, it took me only 20 minutes to build a resume website with Wix. Here is a video of that: https://youtu.be/xOhPyvmFFqU
3. Wix has more website templates.
So when you are using website builders you basically use their premade website templates and modify them. With Wix you get more of those templates, hence you are more likely to find something that suits your brand. You don’t want to have a website that looks like 100s of other websites.
I believe you should go with Wix because you can get website up within an hour and it wouldn’t cost you a penny (depends how you value an hour of your time though). If you feel you need something more than that then you may as well get a developer instead of purchasing a Squarespace plan.
